Navigational Links vs. Informational Links: SEO the Right Way
Beginning early this year, google made some changes to their search ranking, the reason cited is that google wanted to provide more relevant results, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, in plain English, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. The update was initiated more than a year ago, no wonder I saw a few of my keywords’ ranks dropped like a rock, on the other hand almost all keywords promoted by contextual links are not affected, a few of these keywords ranked better than ever, it becomes clear that linking campaign the old way is the thing of past, probably due to link spamming sites being de-indexed by google.
Now what on earth is plain link building and how do people do it? a large percentage of SEO firms will do this, they put your links on websites which only exist for holding links, these websites will only be updated when new links are being added, almost all of them are garbage, the name link spamming are just for these sites. The latest google update will definitely downgrade most if not all of these sites, any links on them will be affected too.
Examples will be great for explanation. When I got into online marketing long time ago, I needed to rank the keyword, http://www.mfrexpress.com/traffic-control-reflective-tape-stickers-c-52_112.html, of course with old way of link building, a lot of sites I used had too many links, and those sites had only links, no real content at all. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, the honeymoon lasted until google changed it’s mind. Something opposite happened to this keyword, chain pullers, we promoted this keyword with articles and blog posts, with very few plain links, now we have really good ranking for this keyword. Now contextual links win the battle, then what? Actually this is all about content, so if you create great content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. You may think there are already too many blogs out there, it’s not true, there will never be too many good blogs, take a look at this blog, fathers day gift , in the beginning I just post to it casually, lately I added nice stuff left and right, it’s no way this site will rank, right?, actually, no, in actuality my site is ranking high for some nice search phrases. Now you can see, creating quality content and article marketing is what we have to do to get great result. Now imagine you have your own blog network, such as Tie Out Cables, you will have the power to push any sites up in search engines.
Remember content is king, you just need to create content, share the content with people, promote your business with the content, this strategy will prevail in short or long term. Whatever you do, you will need persistence and patience, nothing will automatically improve overnight, be it your business or search rankings, keep writing, publishing, sharing and creating, you will see the day of success. When publisinh articles, I prefer ezine, google will index a new article on ezine promptly, popular blogs will get your post indexed as soon as you post it, here I am going to show you an article in article directory or on a blog, say this http://www.mfrexpress.com/binder-chain-grade-100-c-2_9_123.html, quality content, nice presentation, indexed by google, this article is a good example of article marketing.
By the way, we have hot social media now, no one can afford to not using them. One thing you can do for your blogs is to install twitter tools, get a twitter account and API keys, set up API credentials in your twitter tools option, you should choose to post a tweet for every new post, it’s simple and elegant, it’s a big loss if you don’t use this tool.
