My site bases on zen cart E-commence template, it has 20,000 products now , but it become slower and slower. How can I do?

I have the same problem with you.
I searched the answer from google. Most of them tell me to close the manufacture module of sidebox, and close the counter display of categories and so on. Then I try them all. But my website is still slow. My problem is that the more products are, the slower my website is.
I set the variable: long_query_time = 1 in mysql. Then I found that there are four sql queries which are very slow. Because them select all products every time when you open the website. I located them in four files:
includes\modules\sideboxes\whats_new.php
includes\modules\new_products.php
includes\modules\sideboxes\specials.php
includes\modules\specials_index.php
such as :

the value of variable $display_limit here is NULL, but it should be "limit 0,30", so I set $display_limit= "limit 0,30"; before this line. I speed up my website( http://www.usa-laptop-screen.com) successfully!

Here I am using excel to prepare an upload file for Zen Cart In this video I successfully update 2073 products in one shot! In my last video I installed all the files to stock a zencart with 2073 products in about 10 minutes.

When it comes search engines, google is still the king, and they are doing everything they can to maintain their lead,   in the name of providing more relevant search results for it’s users, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, in plain English, almost 12% of google search results are useless or of low quality. They planned and started the update about one year ago, and recently I see some of my ranks were lowered considerably, on the other hand almost all keywords promoted by contextual links are not affected, a few of these keywords ranked better than ever, it’s safe to say that old way of link building is doomed.

What is old way of link building any way? a lot of marketing companies did and are doing the plain link building, they add your links to those linking websites without context, the content on those sites will never be updated, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, we call these sites link spamming sites. Now google algorithm probably will weed out these sites, the links on those spamming sites won’t work anymore.  

A few real world examples will help to explain what I said. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I needed to rank the keyword, Chain Hoists, it was old way of link building all the way, a lot of sites I used had too many links, worst yet, those sites had no content at all. I would give credit where credit is due, this linking strategy worked, lately the keyword link stayed on the first page for a while,   the honeymoon lasted until google changed it’s mind. Something opposite happened to this keyword, chain puller , we put the link in relevant context, almost no plain links, the rank for this keyword is making me real happy. So contextual link wins this time, what about future? It all boils down to content, as long as you dole out high quality content, not only people will love to read your stuff, so do the search engines. You probably think there are already too many blogs out there, it’s not true, there will never be too many good blogs, for instance let’s examine this one, kaiya eve pettiskirts , I build it as a hobby and kept adding good or mediocre content, it’s no way this site will rank, right?, actually, no, in actuality my site is ranking high for some nice search phrases. As far as SEO concerned, quality article marketing is much better than plain link building. Say you’re building your own bogging network, such as Axle Strap, then you will have a powerful weapon in your SEO arsenal.

Remember content is king, you just need to create content, get people to enjoy and share your stuff, promote your business with the content, your effort will reward you handsomely in the end. The virtues, persistence and patience, are essential for your success, long term strategy is required to improve anything of significance, it doesn’t matter you’re doing SEO or advertising your business, keep doing what we have to do till the end of world. When publisinh articles, I prefer ezine, a new article will be indexed and cached in less than an hour, popular blogs will get your post indexed as soon as you post it, let look at some aticles or posts which are published and indexed, say this E Track, quality content, nice presentation, indexed by google, all these points make it perfect for SEO.

We’re not finished yet, please remeber, if you don’t take social media account, you’re lost. For wordpress blogs, I recommend twitter tools, get a twitter account and API keys, configure your twitter tools prpperly, then every new post on your blog will show up in your twitter page, it’s easy and really useful, no one should miss this tool out.

Whatever you do, you will need persistence and patience, you shouldn’t expect things to improve overnight, be it your business or search rankings, let’s keep building and maintaining our blogs until end of the day. When publisinh articles, I prefer ezine, google will index a new article on ezine promptly, popular blogs will get your post indexed as soon as you post it, let look at some aticles or posts which are published and indexed, Chain Hoists, explains some interesting concepts, nice writing, good content, published on popular site, this article serves it’s purpose well.

Last but not least, if you don’t take social media account, you’re lost. One thing you can do for your blogs is to install twitter tools, get a twitter account and API keys, link your blog to twitter, you should choose to post a tweet for every new post, it’s real easy and useful, it’s a big loss if you don’t use this tool.
