Lately google made some changes to their rank algorithm,   in the name of providing more relevant search results for it’s users, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, in another word, there are about 12% of google search results are considered low quality by google itself. The update was initiated more than a year ago, no wonder I saw a few of my keywords’ ranks dropped like a rock, on the other hand almost all keywords promoted by contextual links are not affected, and a few of them even gained a few positions, it’s safe to say that old way of link building is doomed.

Now what on earth is plain link building and how do people do it? a lot of marketing companies did and are doing the plain link building, they will get links from any websites which accept adding links, the content on those sites will never be updated, almost all of them are garbage, the name of link spamming sites is justified. New google algorithm most likely will punish these link spammers,  all the links on those websites will have the same fate.  

Let’s check out a few examples. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I started promote the keyword, Oversize Load Banner, at that time almost every body was doing plain linking campaign, lately I figured that every site in the campaign had way too many links, and the worst thing is that those sites are linking sites only and had no content, not even crap content. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, finally the rank improved a lot,   the honeymoon lasted until google changed it’s mind. Something opposite happened to this keyword, chain puller , we put the link in relevant context, with very few plain links, you can imagine how this keyword ranks. Now contextual links win the battle, then what? It all boils down to content, as long as you dole out high quality content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, take a look at this blog, kaiya eve , in the beginning I just post to it casually, lately I added nice stuff left and right, now it can even rank the highly competitive keywords. Now you can see, quality blog marketing is much better than plain link building. Now imagine you have your own blog network, for instance ratchet load binder, then it will be easier to do article marketing.

Remember content is king, you just need to create content, share the content with people, in the mean time advertise your business with your content, this strategy will prevail in short or long term. Persistence and patience are the keys to success, long term strategy is required to improve anything of significance, be it your business or search rankings, now all we have to do is to give our love for creating and sharing nice content and not to worry about the ranking all the time. One of the best articles directories is EzineArticle, new article will be indexed within an hour if not minutes, popular blogs will get your post indexed as soon as you post it, I believe you should see for yourself, let’s look at this one, Grade 80 Chain , good writing, interesting content, indexed and cached, this article serves it’s purpose well.

We’re not finished yet, please remeber, we have hot social media now, no one can afford to not using them. For wordpress blogs, I recommend twitter tools, then go ahead register a new twitter account and app, set up API credentials in your twitter tools option, then every new post on your blog will show up in your twitter page, it’s real easy and useful, it’s a big loss if you don’t use this tool.

The update was initiated more than a year ago, and recently I see some of my ranks were lowered considerably, but almost all the ranks promoted by articles and blog posts were not affected, a few of these keywords ranked better than ever, it becomes clear that linking campaign the old way is the thing of past, probably due to links crammed sites being tossed out by google.

What is old way of link building any way? There are a lot of SEO company out there are doing this, they will get links from any websites which accept adding links, the content on those sites will never be updated, and most of them are useless, we call these sites link spamming sites. New google algorithm most likely will punish these link spammers,  the links on those spamming sites won’t work anymore.  

Examples will be great for explanation. When I got into online marketing long time ago, I needed to rank the keyword, Jaw Jaw Turnbuckle, at that time almost every body was doing plain linking campaign, lately I figured that every site in the campaign had way too many links, and those sites had only links, no real content at all. I would give credit where credit is due, this linking strategy worked, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, the party was over when google updated it’s algorithm. Here is another keyword, chain pullers, most back links for this keyword are from articles and posts, almost no plain links, now we have really good ranking for this keyword. So contextual link wins this time, what about future? In fact the only thing matters here is content, so if you create great content, not only people will love to read your stuff, so do the search engines. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, take a look at this blog, best smartphones 2011 , I build it as a hobby and kept adding good or mediocre content, and to my surprise, I have high ranks for some of  competitive keywords. As we can see, quality blog marketing is much better than plain link building. Say you’re building your own bogging network, such as garden glove, then it will be easier to do article marketing.

Bottom line is that you should create great content, get people to enjoy and share your stuff, promote your business with the content, this strategy will prevail in short or long term. The virtues, persistence and patience, are essential for your success, long term strategy is required to improve anything of significance, be it your business or search rankings, now all we have to do is to share our love for creating and sharing great content and not to worry about the ranking every day. When publisinh articles, I prefer ezine, a new article will be indexed and cached in less than an hour, popular blogs will get your post indexed as soon as you post it, I believe you should see for yourself, for instance, ATV Winches , nice writing, good content, published on popular site, this article is a good example of article marketing. 

Last but not least, if you don’t take social media account, you’re lost. One thing you can do for your blogs is to install twitter tools, sign up for a twitter account and create a new application, link your blog to twitter, you should choose to post a tweet for every new post, it’s real easy and useful, no one should miss this tool out.

For the purpose of this video, we’ll presume that you’re currently in your ZenCart and therefore are viewing the primary display.

VodaHost will begin to to configure sales tax in ZenCart. Select Tax Rates from the Locations/Taxes list on the top of the screen of the ZenCart. Once you have selected Tax Rates, a display will open up of your Tax Rates page, select the Edit button to the right of the screen. Scroll down the page to the Tax Rate (%) section to the right hand side of the screen and type in the updated Tax Rate. Then type in the description. After you have entered your information select Update. This will bring you to a new display verifying the tax rate has been configured.
