I currently have a all flash website and am not being read by google. I want to make my merchandise page out of a cart that can be read by google and integrated into my flash site, kind of on the side. Do I have to be extremely computer literate to build the cart myself and which one should I use to do it? Thanks alot in advance.

I’m a dummy when it comes to mySQL. Is there an easy, non-brainiac way to do it?

Despite the fact both scripts are quite similar in terms of functionality, there is no really easy way to do it. In most cases you will encounter discrepancies if you just try to export a mySQL query from the first database and execute it in order to add the products in the second.

What you can try (and bear in mind that you should always perform a backup prior to making such changes) is to export the products from the administrator area of osCommerce to a CSV and then try importing it in ZenCart. This might still require sime manual editing and you will need to copy over product images etc.

What exactly is the difference between Zen Cart, Oscommerce and CRE Loaded?

Zen Cart has a free version of it’s e-commerce shopping cart. It wouldn’t be a bad start for your website business.

If you are building your business site from scratch, you will not be able to build all of it completely free. You can use the Zen Cart for free, however you need a web host to operate it on. The free web site hosts you will find (like google.pages) will not allow you to host ecommerce on their servers. The free web site hosts that are out there do not offer you the features that you will need in order to operate an ecommerce site.

You will need to be able to add and edit HTML codes. Also Zen Cart v1.2.x and v1.3.x Minimum/suggested server requirements requirements are PHP 4.3.2 or higher (PHP 4.4.x for optimal performance), Apache 1.3.x and MySQL 3.2.x or higher. You will be able to find web site hosts starting at 1.99 a month. I would recommend 1and1.com They have packages starting under 5.00 a month.
